Team Ninja's thoughts on the Wii U

Team Ninja has been one of Wii U’s early supporters. The studio will be bringing a unique version of Ninja Gaiden III to the console when it launches later this year.

Ninja Gaiden III director Fumihiko Yasuda and Team Ninja head Yosuke Hayashi were interviewed in the February issue of Nintendo Gamer, and both men sounded positive about Wii U development.

First, Yasuda commented on Wii U development in general. He said:
“It’s very easy to develop for. We’re finding it very similar to develop for Wii U as for the Xbox 360 and PS3. …They’ve asked us what we would like to see from the hardware, and when we give them feedback we can see that they’re definitely listening to it and making changes. The hardware is still constantly changing.”

Hayashi then commented on the Wii U’s unique controller:
“I think it’s a really big deal that you have a screen right there in your hands; it’s a feature that’s really unique.”

Hayashi once again commented on how Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword will connect to the Ninja Gaiden III on Wii U:
“The Wii U’s touch control is just like the DS’s. We released a Ninja Gaiden game, Dragon Sword, on DS, so we want to introduce some elements from that into the Wii U version.”

Finally, Hayashi was asked if Dead or Alive 5 would be possible on Wii U. Although he wouldn’t commit to anything, he did say that “we’re definitely keeping other platforms in mind for DOA5.”
“We’re thinking about all sorts of things. Right now, our Wii U development is focused just on Ninja Gaiden, but we’re definitely keeping other platforms in mind for DOA5.”

McNamara tweeted:

“You already know the game title if you have been paying attention”

McNamara proceeded to rule out games that won’t be featured on the cover. It’s not Halo 4, Half-Life 3, Grand Theft Auto V, or Alpha Centauri 2.

Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long before the publication unveils the cover story for the March issue. Game Informer will pull back the curtain on the mystery title on Thursday.

Microsoft - No New Console [Xbox] This Year

Microsoft continues to say that there won’t be a new Xbox released in 2012. This time around, Cedrick Delmas, marketing director of Microsoft France, denied any possibility of new hardware this year.

Delmas said:

“We’re in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories. I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360′s cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven’t price cut this year.

“Afterward, what will happen at E3, it’s still too early to say. What’s certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012. If we wanted to counter Nintendo, we would have to be in a position to release something immediately, and that is not at all the case.

“We’re not here to counter Nintendo and they’re not here to fight the other manufacturers. Nintendo has put itself in a different cycle, it’s going forward to its own rhythm, with success as we have seen with the Wii, and now it’s their turn to present their innovation.”

Metal Gear Solid 3 - PS2 vs 3DS vs HD Collection

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D has largely been considered irrelevant due to to Metal Gear Solid HD Collection. The collection is already out on the PS3 and Xbox 360 and technically gives you more bang for your buck as it features three titles from the series.

Some series followers have also argued that the visuals in Snake Eater 3D have seen a downgrade compared to the original PS2 title. That did appear to be the case with some early screenshots, but a new round of images shows that the game’s graphics have improved a bit.
